President's Message - July 2021
Howdy ASCE Dallas Branch Members! This month is our annual Joint Meeting with the ASCE Fort Worth Branch on Friday, July 16th. For the second straight year, we will have to make this a virtual meeting. However, the Fort Worth Branch is in charge of the meeting and they have put together a great line up of speakers, including an ethics presentation and institute technical sessions. In case you missed it, we announced in the May newsletter that we are making a return to in-person ASCE Dallas Branch Meetings beginning in August. Please mark your calendars for noon on Monday, August 9th for the first meeting back in-person at the Vouv Meeting & Event Space! I am very excited that we are getting back to networking and fellowshipping together with our ASCE Dallas family. I also want to thank each and every one of you for your support over the past 16 months. Our last in-person Branch meeting happened back on March, 9th 2020, and it is pretty remarkable to see all the changes and challenges that have happened since then. Navigating this pandemic with an organization the size and importance of ASCE was no small task, but I have been truly impressed and inspired by our entire Branch leadership team that worked hard to develop unique and flexible programming to keep our Branch thriving. I have done my best to grow and adapt as a leader through this time, and I hope each of you take some time to reflect on the growth and positive changes that have occurred in your own lives through the past year plus. As a reminder, the Dallas Branch Officer and Committee Chair nominations are also currently open! If you are interested in joining the leadership team with ASCE Dallas, please check out the nomination form linked HERE. We are always looking for fresh perspectives and new ideas to make our Branch better than ever! Also, don’t forget to register for our Dallas Branch Golf Tournament on Monday, October 4th at the Texas Rangers Golf Club benefitting our G.B. Mann Scholarship Fund. You can register for the tournament HERE. A special thanks goes out to our Golf Tournament Title Sponsor: Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS)! Finally, thank you to all our members who watched our June virtual meeting and donated $10 for their PDH certificates. From these PDH certificate proceeds, we were able to donate $735 each to the G.B. Mann Scholarship Fund and the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas. With our return to the in-person meeting in August, June was the last month of charity donations that will be made by the Dallas Branch from PDH sales. Thank you to all of our members that were so generous over the past few months as we raised money for some very worth causes and charities! As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I am here to serve you as your Dallas Branch President, and my virtual “door” is always open. -Jonathan Brower, P.E.
