Howdy ASCE Dallas Branch Members!

I hope you all enjoyed Younger Member Month in May. Our ASCE Dallas Branch Director Nick Phillips, our Younger Member Chair Samantha Vail, and the rest of the YM Committee did a fantastic job organizing the main meeting presentation, putting on a fun virtual social, and hosting another great Bridge Program on Networking.

In case you missed it, we announced in last month’s newsletter that we are putting into action a plan to return our ASCE Dallas Branch Meetings to an in-person format beginning in August. We would like to get your input as well on how likely you are to attend an in-person Branch Meeting. If you have some time, please take our short survey:

Next month is our annual Joint Meeting with the ASCE Fort Worth Branch on Friday, July 16th. For the second straight year, we will have to make this a virtual meeting. However, the Fort Worth Branch is in charge of the meeting this year and they are working on a great line up of speakers, including an ethics presentation and institute technical sessions. There could also be the option of an in-person technical tour – stay tuned for more updates!

The Dallas Branch Officer and Committee Chair nominations are also currently open! If you are interested in joining the leadership team with ASCE Dallas, please check out the nomination form linked HERE. We are always looking for fresh perspectives and new ideas to make our Branch better than ever!

Also, don’t forget to register for our Dallas Branch Golf Tournament on Monday, October 4th at the Texas Rangers Golf Club benefitting our G.B. Mann Scholarship Fund. You can register for the tournament HERE. A special thanks goes out to our Golf Tournament Title Sponsor: Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS)!

Finally, thank you to all our members who watched our May virtual meeting and donated $10 for their PDH certificates. From these PDH certificate proceeds, we were able to donate $750 each to the G.B. Mann Scholarship Fund and The Austin Street Center. This month, we will be splitting the proceeds from our PDH certificates evenly between the ASCE Dallas G.B. Mann Scholarship and the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I am here to serve you as your Dallas Branch President, and my virtual “door” is always open.

-Jonathan Brower, P.E.
