WWHS CE Club End of Year Student Survey

Every year we like to look back on the CE Club meetings and activities to see where we can make improvements in the program. To start, it’s good to gauge where the students stood at the beginning of the year with regards to their understanding of civil engineering:

Next, our survey results showed that that CE Club speakers and activities produced an increased interest in civil engineering:

The goal of CE Club is to not only increase interest in civil engineering, but also encourage the students to pursue a degree and career in civil engineering. We started off broad by asking if the students were at least considering studying engineering in general in college:

Of the students considering civil engineering specifically, it appears that structural engineering and transportation are the favorites:

Finally, we asked the students to rate the CE Club on a scale from 1 to 10. This year’s CE Club speakers achieved an average rating of 7.8!

Here are some of the best feedback quotes from students in the program:

"The activities made all the ideas expressed in presentations a tangible thing and were by far the best part of meetings."

"I loved that every time there was some sort of interactive activity that made the day go by faster and made it much more interesting."

"I learned a lot about the daily lives of civil engineers and what they do, so it helped me decide what I want to do in the future."

"The guest speakers increased my interests in civil engineering by expanding my knowledge and understanding of what civil engineering is, especially through intriguing presentations and hands-on activities."

"My interest in CE increased because I know that being an engineer has many opportunities to help the people and the community. This is something that I love doing. This why my CE desire became stronger."

"There were a lot of things that I didn't know about Engineering and it really surprised me because there is so much more to it than numbers and science."

"The guest speakers where interesting in the way that they all did different things and showed us what they did to help other people. "

"The speakers increased my interest because of the stories they had to share with us about their day to day jobs and what exactly their life as an engineer looks like. This interested me because i was able to see what my future could be like if i choose to pursue this field."
