On December 4, 2015, President Obama signed into law the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act, or “FAST Act.” This act contains several key components including the selection and delivery of projects with economic implications as well as provisions for assistance to local governments to focus on the needs of freight transportation providers.  Since safety, reliability, and efficiency are core components of supply chain logistics, integrating transportation design features with those core components will significantly help optimize freight movement and meet several of the FAST Act stated goals.

This presentation discusses examples of such integration.
