Don’t Call It Dirt: Geotechnical Lessons Learned & Design Considerations on Large-Scale Projects

Mark Farrow, P.E., Senior Vice President - Alliance Geotechnical Group


Mr. Farrow is one of the founding partners of Alliance Geotechnical Group, Inc. As a Senior Vice President of the firm, he also serves as the Geotechnical Services Principal. Recognized as a leader in his field as a geotechnical engineering consultant, Mr. Farrow has served the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex since 1975. Prior to establishing Alliance Geotechnical Group, Inc., Mr. Farrow served for 10 years as Vice President of Engineering with a major North Texas Geotechnical firm. His technical experience includes project management on a variety of projects ranging from major highway transportation projects, airports, municipal projects, tunnels, treatment plants, shopping malls and hi-rise structures. Mr. Farrow has also consulted on a number of structural failures, has investigated landslides and testified as an expert witness in structural, civil and geotechnical-related matters. Mr. Farrow holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and is a Licensed Professional Engineer. He is active in both the civic and professional communities, with memberships in the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). In addition, Mr. Farrow has been selected to present 19 professional engineering papers over the last twelve years at ASCE State Conventions.
