The Future of Dallas

Majed Al-Ghafry, Assistant City Manager, Dallas


Majed Al-Ghafry is the Assistant City Manager for the City of Dallas. With more than 28 years of experience in municipal government, his career spans three states with emphases in public works, transportation, operations, land development, organizational development, performance management and economic development.

Prior to joining the City of Dallas, Al-Ghafry served as Assistant City Manager for the City of El Cajon, CA. He is credited with initiating the City’s first Project Assistance Center (PAC), which created inclusiveness and a team-approach within the building and planning and engineering divisions.

Al-Ghafry served as the City of San Antonio’s Public Works Director. Under his leadership, the Department initiated its first strategic plan, implemented a comprehensive street pavement preservation program, created the City’s first American with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan and optimized the transportation system operations within and around the City.

Majed has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University, as well as professional engineering registrations in Civil and Traffic from the State of California and professional engineering registration from the State of Texas.
