The Texas Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers is accepting letters of interest from qualified applicants to serve as the Executive Director of Texas Section ASCE. 

Qualifications

  •       Required

o   Experience managing an organization, office or department
o   Excellent communication and presentation skills
o   Excellent writing skills

  •       Preferred

o   Member - Texas Section ASCE  
o   PE license/working experience Texas
o   Experience serving ASCE in positions of responsibility at the Branch, Section and/or National/Global levels
o   Experience managing/coordinating with Associations/Societies (if not ASCE)
o   Experience coordinating with legislators and other government leaders
o   Experience in marketing and use of social media

General Job Description

  •       Oversee the Texas Section office in Austin, including directing staff, coordinating with the Texas Civil Engineer magazine publisher and coordinating with the Section accountant
  •       Ensure decisions and actions of the Board of Direction and Executive Committee (Strategic Plan and Governing Documents) are implemented
  •       Support activities resulting in the budgeting, planning and execution of the annual Texas Civil Engineering Conference (CECON) and the annual Student Symposium
  •       Identify, review and develop non-dues related revenue sources through coordination with the Budget Finance Committee and Section Accountant
  •       Provide key communication and coordination with the Local Branches, Student Chapters and Committees
  •       Establish and strengthen partnerships with Texas state agencies
  •       Support Branches when they host a special function or activity
  •       Provide key communication and coordination between the Texas Section, Region 6, and Global ASCE
  •       Promote Texas Section and Branches initiatives, and manage and/or coordinate initiatives to completion
  •       Represent the Texas Section before other Professional and Governmental bodies as requested by the Section Leadership inclusive of the State Legislature.
  •       Ensure the Texas Section provides nominations for ASCE National and Regional Awards and programs
  •       Communicate established ASCE policy to the media and the public
  •       Promote membership growth and retention within ASCE
  •       Report to the Office Personnel Committee (OPC) via the Section President

 

Location:         Preferred Austin; otherwise flexible/ with expectation of frequent travel into Austin

Salary:             Negotiable dependant upon applicant’s experience and abilities

Hours:             Full-time or Part-time (

Start Date:       September 1, 2016 or negotiable
