Brad

Hi Dallas Branch Members! I hope you had a great summer! Although I enjoyed my summer, I’m excited for the cooler fall temperatures and football season to start!

I’d like to thank Kathleen Jackson with the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) for speaking to us at our August meeting. It was great to hear that Kathleen and the TWDB has made it a priority to reach out to professionals in our industry across the State. Our Branch can now be included in her presentation as organizations she has visited!

It’s hard to believe that this is my second to last article I will be writing as your President. Being President has been very rewarding and I look forward to the remainder of my term. As we wrap up the fiscal year, I can’t help but look back at what the Branch has accomplished. We could not have been so successful this year without the support of all the speakers, volunteers, members, and our sponsors. Thank you to everyone who has supported the Branch throughout the year!

September is also the time of year where we have our election for our next year’s Board of Directors. Angela Pflanz, Past President and Nomination Chair, announced our slate for 2016-2017 at the August meeting. If you are a member and have not done so already, please go to the Branch website and vote online before our meeting on September 12. You will also have the opportunity to vote by ballot at the meeting if you aren’t able to vote online. Our 2016-2017 Slate of Officers up for member approval are:

Vice President – Anthony Luce, P.E.
Secretary – Lisa Woof, P.E.
Treasurer (2-Year Term) – Andre Garces-Torres, P.E.
Texas Section Director (serving out 2nd year of 2-Year Term) – Julie Jones, P.E.
Technical Director – Gary Dreighton, P.E.
Branch Director – Jonathan Brower, P.E.

Our next meeting is on Monday, September 12, 2016. Our speaker will be Mark Sanchez with Parkhill Smith & Cooper who will present on “Wastewater Reuse.” Before and after the luncheon, the Institutes will once again have Technical Sessions providing a great opportunity to earn up to three (3) PDHs each month.

I look forward to seeing you there and hope you have a safe Labor Day!

Brad Hernandez, PE
President
