President's Message - August 2016

Brad

Hello Dallas Branch Members! I hope everyone enjoyed the joint meeting with the Fort Worth Branch last month. Thank you to Commissioner Vandergriff and all of our speakers! With their support, I am proud to say this year was another huge success with over 350 people in attendance! If there is another metroplex in the country that can pull off numbers like these for a monthly meeting, I’d sure like to know about it! As I stood at the podium and saw the room filled with fellow civil engineers, it was truly humbling and made me proud to be serving as President of our great Branch. Thank you for your continued support!

I’d like to once again thank the Fort Worth Branch for being such great partners. Each year we share lessons learned with each other to provide the best program for our members. Through this collaboration, our joint meeting continues to get bigger and better each year. Next year it will be the Fort Worth Branch’s turn to host the meeting and I hope you will attend to show the Dallas Branch’s support.

Last, but definitely not least, I’d like to thank Branch’s officers and committee chairs led by our Vice President Mark Boyd. This event could not have happened without their tireless efforts. I have had the opportunity over the years to be involved in a number of joint meetings and conferences. I can tell you that it takes a lot of teamwork and effort! They are volunteers so this effort comes at the expense of their personal time. The success of this event is a direct result of their efforts and passion for this organization.

Our next meeting is on Monday, August 8, 2016 back at the Crowne Plaza in Addison. Our speaker will be Kathleen Jackson with the Texas Water Development Board. The Institutes will once again have Technical Sessions before and after the lunch, providing a great opportunity for you to earn up to three (3) PDHs. I look forward to seeing you there!

I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!
