MORNING SESSION - Hosted by CI @ 11:00 AM

Topic: Ground Improvement Methods

Speaker: Brian J. Freilich, Ph.D., P.E., - Hayward Baker Inc.

The variable geologic settings encountered across Texas offers some of the most challenging and risky subsurface conditions to manage.  Consequently, numerous ground improvement and/or traditional geotechnical techniques are required to solve the various geotechnical situations encountered.  Selection of the best technique for any project requires a wide range of knowledge, experience and skill in an array of approaches. Hayward Baker’s comprehensive catalog of techniques, including vibro-replacement (stone columns), specialist grouting, soil mixing, micro-piles, rigid inclusions, earth retention/excavation support, and ground water barriers, enables us to find a solution for any structure’s geotechnical problems.  The Hayward Baker suite of technologies, equipment, personal and experience is comprehensive, and is packaged to create the most effective and economical solution for numerous geotechnical and structural issues.  This is one of the many reasons why Hayward Baker is listed #1 Excavation/Foundation Contractor by Engineering News-Record, year after year.

Dennis Boehm and Brian Freilich from the Hayward Baker Houston Office will be presenting a brief outline of the various ground improvement technologies Hayward Baker offers, supplemented with recent case histories.  The presentation will also provide general guidelines and techniques to assist in evaluating which ground improvement methods are appropriate and cost effective for the range of geotechnical and structural issues commonly encountered in Texas.
