Brad

 Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I’d like to thank all the members who donated toys to help the Younger Member Holiday Toy Drive supporting Mission Arlington / Mission Metroplex and donating $1,734 to support the 37th Annual WBAP “Christmas Is For Caring Campaign”. Thank you to Quinn Spann, Alexis Clark, and the Younger Member Committee for your efforts!

We had a successful December presentation with Mr. Joe Mace from Pegasus Links Contractors, LLC speaking about the “Dallas Horseshoe: Fixin' the Mix”. It is amazing to see the transformation of the Dallas skyline and I’m proud that our industry has a major part in leading the efforts. I enjoyed seeing everyone following the luncheon at our holiday gathering. Thank you Fabian Herrera for organizing and planning the gathering.

As we look forward to 2016, our Branch has a lot of exciting speakers, technical seminars, and activities planned. I hope one of your New Year’s resolutions is to get more involved in ASCE. If so, you are in luck as we have many opportunities for you to meet your goal. A few of the opportunities include the Civil Engineering Club, career days at local schools, Camp Whispering Springs Trail Rehab Project, judging the Future Cities Competition, E-Week at Perot Museum, annual DFW Joint Meeting, and Younger Member volunteer and have a beer events. Please connect to our social media and newsletter for upcoming events.

The Sponsorship Program for 2016 has been finalized and can be found here. I am excited that we once again have some great opportunities for Corporate Sponsors to help support the Branch’s General and G.B. Mann Scholarship funds. The Branch has over 1,100 active members and reaches over 7,500 people in the civil engineering industry in North Texas; therefore, our promotion of your sponsorship goes a long way. Please consider supporting your local ASCE Branch with your financial contribution! Phillip Packer, Fundraising Chair, will be contacting you on how you can support the Branch. If you have any questions please contact Phillip at [email protected].

Finally, I hope you can join us at our next meeting on Monday, January 11, 2016 where we will have Mr. Kevin Feldt, AICP, with North Texas Central Texas Council of Governments to speak about the Cotton Belt Corridor Project. Our Institutes will once again have Technical Sessions before and after the luncheon providing a great opportunity to earn up to three (3) PDHs each month. I look forward to seeing you there!
