President's Message - November 2015

Hello Branch Members! I am honored to be serving as your President for the 2015 – 2016 year. I would first like to thank Angela Matthews for her service and leadership this past year. Last year’s officers and committee chairs accomplished so much and I look forward to continuing that momentum into the upcoming year.

I’m excited to work with an excellent group of officers and committee chairs this year. I can tell you that we truly have some great leaders that are enthusiastic and passionate about the success of this Branch. We held our 2015-2016 officer and committee chairs kick-off meeting on Monday, October 19, 2015. At the meeting, each person expressed their goals for this year. Some of the goals mentioned for this year are:

•        Successful planning and implementation of the 2016 joint Dallas-Fort Worth Annual Meeting
•        Focus on increasing younger member involvement to encourage the next generation of Branch leaders to emerge
•        Focus on increasing the Branch’s membership
•        Implement innovative ways to raise money for scholarships
•        Provide quality member experience at our monthly meetings
•        Providing quality technical programing
•        Host the Woodrow Wilson CE Club at a monthly meeting
•        Installation of the Old Red Courthouse Plaque
•        Active involvement with local Student Chapters
•        Participate in the TSPE E-Week Luncheon

As you can see, this group is ready to do some fantastic things this year! We also have a lot of exciting events and public outreach planned for this year. Please link to our newsletter and social media outlets for the latest on upcoming events and volunteering opportunities.

If you have been thinking about what you can do to give back to our profession, this is your opportunity! We encourage everyone to help make this year a success. Please reach out to your officers and committee chairs if you would like to help.

At our upcoming meeting on November 9, we are excited to once again have SAME Dallas Post join us this year! Please help me in welcoming their members as we support the engineers serving in our military.
