The Future City Competition asks students to employ critical thinking, teamwork, research and problem-solving skills in order to design a city of the future. The program allows 12 to 14 year-olds an opportunity to design and create a table-top scale city model, write a research essay and give a 7-minute presentation before a panel of judges. The regional competition takes place at the University of Texas at Arlington in January, with the winning team awarded a trip to the national competition.  Engineer mentors are currently needed for several Future City teams at schools across the Metroplex.  Contact [email protected] to volunteer or if you would like more information about the engineer mentor roles.  You can learn more about the program at http://dfwfuturecity.org/ and about being a team mentor at http://futurecity.org/engineers.
