The Project Camp

ASCE Volunteers, Ashley Chronister and Jennifer Roath with Brown & Gay Engineers, presented “What’s a Civil Engineer?” to two groups of campers at the Plano Center. The Project Camp is a project based STEM learning opportunity for 2nd-6th graders during the summer. Tying into recent events, this year’s design challenge centered around the before and after engineering concerns of a flash flood. The younger kids learned about and built their own bridges; while the older group designed and tested parachute air-drop packages.
