President's Message - May 2015

The month of May is Younger Member month and as the Branch Director, I, Fabian Herrera, will be assuming the responsibility of the President to the best of my ability. This year the Dallas Branch Younger Members are hosting the DFW ASCE Golf Tournament, from which proceeds will benefit our G.B. Mann Scholarship and everyone is encouraged to participate in this fun filled competition.

Our Younger Members have been extremely active this fiscal year. Led by Co-Chairs Ashlyn Kelbly and Alexis Clark, they have enjoyed happy hour socials, cultural festivals, and volunteer opportunities. This month many of our Younger Members will be joining young professionals from various organizations in a joint outing to an FC Dallas soccer game.

This month 10 students from the Engineering Academy at Woodrow Wilson High School and their teacher Mr. Brandon Carver will be in attendance. These are 10 of the 80 students from the four Civil Engineering/Architecture Design classes taught by Mr. Carver. Please be sure to visit with them and lend some words of encouragement to the future of our organization.

This month’s speaker, Mark Simon, PE, will be delivering a presentation on Dallas Water Utilities Capital Improvement Projects update. More reason to join us for lunch on Monday, May 11th.
