E-Week at the Perot Museum

ASCE Dallas hosted a table during E-Week at the Perot Museum in late February.  Elementary and middle school students were challenged to build a “penny bridge” out of a piece of 8.5”x11” paper and a few paper clips.  Each penny bridge was then tested by spanning between two books and being loaded with pennies until failure.  Some of the most impressive bridges held over 100 pennies!  Do you think you can build a better penny bridge?

Thank you to all the volunteers from the Dallas Branch that took time out of your busy work days to come down to the Perot Museum.  Hopefully the experience was as impactful to you as it was to all the students you inspired!  Additional photos from the E-Week penny bridge activity can be found online here.
