Below is a note from one of the three recipients of the Dallas Branch ASCE Scholarship in 2013, Rahul Patel:

I was 1 of the lucky 3 recipients of the ASCE scholarship in 2013 and I just wanted to let you know how I was doing at The University of Texas at Austin. I'm doing pretty well there and of course the scholarship helped with the tuition. I'm still doing civil engineering and I'm looking to go into the structural side of civil engineering. The civil classes are quite difficult at UT but I'm doing fairly well in them and I just recieved a 3.81 GPA this fall 2014 semester and although the official cumulative GPAs haven't been released yet, I'm looking at about a 3.7-3.75 cumulative GPA. I'm still a member of the UT ASCE student branch and am an official member of the ASCE Austin branch and go to as many meetings as I can including an interest in competing in a concrete canoe challenge with other ASCE members from UT where we will compete with other schools across Texas! I've been taking courses such as engineering physics, statics, and computer programming as my basic courses as an engineer and I will begin my major sequence courses my junior year. I also plan on doing a study abroad maymester in Australia or possibly Holland my summer after junior year. Finally, I hope to get a spot as an intern at TXDOT this summer and if not them, I will try to get an internship with the NTTA. I just wanted to give you an update on how I was doing and I wanted to say thank you and the entire ASCE Dallas branch for the helpful scholarship! I'll update you more as my education progresses.
