Howdy!!  Three important thing to mark on your calendar as you are reading this. The June Branch Meeting will be held at the Hurst Conference Center on June 10th, there will be an ethics webinar on June 13th and finally, start making plans now to attend the 2013 Texas Section Fall Conference and Centennial Celebration on September 11-14.

We had a very enlightened presentation last month from Ms. Shelly Hattan, P.E. from the Tarrant Regional Water District who spoke us about Zebra Mussels and the Integrated Pipeline (those are some pesky little critters). This month we have a topic and speaker that goes along with our monthly Centennial Theme of Transportation & Traffic. Mr. Tom Shelton, Sr. Program Manager, from NCTCOG who will talk about Transportation Needs & Funding Options for the Future. Important to note that this is the annual joint meeting with the Fort Worth Branch and will be held at the Hurst Conference Center. Thank you to our monthly meeting sponsor: ABT, Inc.

A great opportunity is fast approaching. Our ethics webinar will be held at Halff Associates on Thursday, June 13 at noon. This ethics webinar . It will be presented by Tom Finn, P.E., is entitled “Negligence, Engineer Conduct and the Public: The relationship that shouldn’t be ended with “It’s not you, it’s me”Western Region Engineer for the American Concrete Pipe Association. The cost is $20 and lunch and a drink will be provided. All proceeds from this ethics seminar and the raffle drawing will go directly to the Dallas Branch G.B. Mann Scholarship Fund. Seating will be limited so RSVP today!!!

Centennial Habitat House Volunteer Registration is Open! To commemorate the centennial anniversary of the Texas Section of ASCE and as a part of the Texas Section Fall Conference, we will be breaking ground on the construction of the ASCE Centennial Habitat for Humanity house this fall. Habitat for Humanity’s goal is to provide safe, affordable housing for families in need. We are looking for volunteers on weekends from Sep.14 to Nov. 9. Visit here for more information and for details on how to register.

Don’t forget: The Communication Committee has set up social media sites for our members to get updates and information from the Dallas Branch. This is really one of the best ways to get current and updated information from the Dallas Branch.

I hope to see all of you at our Dallas Fort Worth Joint Branch meeting on June 10th at the Hurst Conference Center.

President
