President’s Message

Hello ASCE members and supporters! I hope you enjoyed spending time with your friends and loved ones this Thanksgiving holiday. This past November has been a busy month for the Board. We’ve been working hard to move forward with several initiatives and looking towards 2015.

1. Finalizing the 2014-2015 Branch Budget
2. Planning the Dallas Branch 90th Anniversary/Scholarship Fundraiser Casino Night
3. Updating the 2015 Sponsorship program
4. Building on STEM outreach: Girl Scouts, Future City, Civil Eng. Club
5. Streamlining the Meeting Program process
6. Raising money for the Christmas is for Caring campaign

This past month, our Branch was awarded the Outstanding Section and Branch Web Site Award for the 4th time in 5 years. Congratulations to the Communications Committee members (past & present): Sean Merrell, Lisa Woof, Phillip Alcorn, Todd Hyden, & Marc Sandhu for keeping us informed with cutting edge technology! So proud of them!

With a new 2015 Sponsorship Program, we have opportunities for corporate sponsorship levels that would assist our General Fund for Branch operations and benefit the annual Scholarship Fund. With over 1,000 branch members and 6,500 friends of ASCE, our promotion of your sponsorship goes a long way. Please take a look at the flyer that’s been included in the newsletter and support your local ASCE Branch with your financial contribution!

If you’ve been keeping up with local news, you may have heard that NFL team Dallas Cowboys will be moving their practice facility and headquarters to Frisco. At our December 8th meeting, we have Mr. Ron Patterson, Assistant City Manager of Frisco to share with us about the new multi-use development and 12,000-seat event center.
