Mentors Needed for Future Cities Competition

FUTURE CITIES COMPETITION MENTORS NEEDED: The Future City Competition, a NSPE 4-part multi-disciplinary competition which asks students to design a future city by employing critical thinking, teamwork, research and problem-solving skills has begun across the North Texas Region. The 12-14 yr olds design a city using SimCity software, a table-top scale city model built with recycled materials; write a research essay & abstract  “Feeding Future Cities: incorporating Urban Agriculture into Future Cities”; and will provide a 7-minute Team verbal Presentation defending their vision before a panel of judges in January.   Would you consider inspiring one of these teams to be next generation of engineers by being a mentor to a teacher-sponsored team this year?  Working with an mentor and help one of the following teacher-sponsored, 12-14-yr-old students tackle transportation, environment, communication, water management, energy, housing, budgetary & other issues with vigor and innovation this year.   Mentors needed for the following schools at this time.  As more teams send requests, other mentors will be needed also.  Contact [email protected] to volunteer or if you would like more information.  Learn more about being a team mentor at following website http://futurecity.org/engineers or contact [email protected] or [email protected].
