Presentation Summary: Michael Rhodes, P.E. of VRX, Inc. will be briefly discussing the current design and construction experiences of Partial Depth Deck Repair using Hydrodemolition and Very Early Strength Latex Modified Concrete (VESLMC) on several projects on the Dallas North Tollway. He will provide information on the pros and cons of hydrodemolition and VESLMC while showing the advantages of the process for the owner and travelling public. The presentation will discuss the most recent project at the DNT/Maple-Knight, DNT/Lemmon, and NTTA Gleneagles Office east entry bridge.

Topic: Railroad Coordination for Transportation and Development Projects
Speaker: David Maas, P.E. - TranSystems
Presentation Summary: The presentation will highlight the basic information about railroad organizations, coordination step required to advance a project intersecting a railroad right-of-way, and some strategies to shorten the railroad coordination durations which are often determinate to project execution. The speaker will address a typical railroad company org chart to discuss how they are structured, and hence, how they operate. From this discussion, one can look at different divisions and who to contact for particular issues within the organization to expedite railroad coordination.
Speaker Biography: The seminar will be presented by Mr. David Maas from TranSystems, Railroad Executive. Dave joined TranSystems in 2006, bringing with him extensive knowledge of the railroad industry. Previously, he spent 25 years with CSX as Assistant Vice-President of Advanced Engineering, Managing Director of Finance for Mechanical and Engineering and General Manager of Terminal Development. In his last position, he was responsible for developing the business case for implementing new technology applications in the operating department. His responsibilities included conceptualization, facility sizing analysis, justification, securing capital funding, and implementation of major multi-year, multi-phase projects. Since joining TranSystems Dave has built an operations planning and analysis practice within the freight rail market sector. Leveraging TranSystems extensive rail operating experience, simulation modeling capabilities, and industrial engineering expertise, Dave has molded a railroad operations planning and analysis team. David graduated from the University of North Carolina with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and has an M.B.A. from Jacksonville University. He is a professional engineer in the state of Florida.
