Engineer of the Year & Young Engineer of the Year Nominations

Each year ASCE participates in the annual E-Week Awards Luncheon, which has become one of the largest engineering events in Dallas. For 2014, the event will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Plano Centre and ASCE will present awards to our Branch’s Engineer of the Year and Young Engineer of the year.

Nominations for both awards are currently open and will close on Sunday, November 15, 2013. If you would like to be considered, or if you would like to nominate someone else, please submit a nomination form to our Branch Honors Chair, Doug Smith at [email protected]. Links to the nomination forms are provided below.  In addition to the completed form, the candidates will be asked to provide a brief memorandum with back-up information.

Evaluation criteria include the following:

Engineer of the Year

  • P.E. License in the State of Texas
  • Education
  • Professional & Technical Society Activities
  • Engineering Achievements
  • Past Honors and/or Awards
  • Publications, Papers, Presentations & Patents
  • Civic and Humanitarian Activities


Young Engineer of the Year

  • Age 35 or younger as of January 1, 2013
  • Educational and Collegiate Achievements
  • Professional Society Activities
  • Civic and Humanitarian Activities
  • Continuing Education
  • Engineering Achievements
  • Professional Experience



The committee does not need exhaustive background information, but needs information suitable to judge the candidates’ achievements. More information (description, weighting, etc.) is included on the nomination forms. Candidates will be notified of the Committee’s section by November 25, 2013.
