First Technical Institute Seminar at 11:00 am

The Dallas Sustainability Chapter will hold a seminar prior to the June 9 meeting/ luncheon at 11:00am.  The seminar is titled "YES to LEED v4". This presentation will be given by Mr. Chris Mundell and Ms April Ambrose.

In his 20-year career, Chris has developed and managed many architectural projects located around the country. For the past six years, he has promoted sustainability initiatives through education and implementation.  He currently is responsible for directing project design teams in regards to sustainable strategies, managing and administering project-specific LEED documentation, and researching new and upcoming sustainable products and technologies.  Chris is also actively involved in local organizations. He is on the board of directors of the USGBC North Texas Chapter, the Vice-Chair of the AIA Dallas 2030 Series committee, and the House Chair for the CSI Dallas Chapter.

April is a LEED AP in BD&C, Senior Project Manager/Territory Manager at Viridian. While this sustainability consulting firm is based in Little Rock, Arkansas, April is currently expanding the Viridian market from Arkansas into West Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama.  In the past 6 years she has been involved in over 100 LEED projects in nearly all the rating systems spanning 4 different versions and is currently the LEEDv4 liaison for the USGBC Arkansas Chapter.  She is a self-described ‘LEED-Nerd-Extraordinaire’.


Second Technical Institute Seminar at 1:10 pm

The Dallas Environmental Water Resources Institute (EWRI) Chapter will hold a seminar after the June 9 meeting/ luncheon at 1:10pm.  The seminar is titled "USACE 404 Permitting". This presentation will be given by Mr. Russell Marusak, Halff Associates Engineers, Inc.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District has adopted a new methodology (effective October 2, 2013) for determining appropriate mitigation for losses of streams associated with Section 404 permits. The seminar will introduce the new methodology and discuss how it may impact your clients from a cost standpoint.

Russell Marusak has a Bachelor of Science/Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences from Texas A&M University (1995) and a Masters in Biology from UNT.  Russell is an Environmental Scientist, with Halff Associates since 1998.  His experience includes preparation of ESA and impact statements as well as environmental inventories of predevelopment conditions.  His expertise includes jurisdictional determinations of waters of the US as regulated by the USACE and evaluation of Section 404 permitting requirements
