Bill Brown - Stormwater Executive Manager for the City of Arlington
Topic: Greening a Grey System, LID Practices in Arlington

Bill Brown is the Stormwater Executive Manager for the City of Arlington, Texas. He is responsible for all stormwater and floodplain management related activities and serves as Arlington’s Floodplain Administrator and the MS4 Administrator. Prior to working in Arlington he spent 3 years as Assistant City Engineer for Greenville, South Carolina; Senior Project Engineer for the Department of Environmental Concerns, DuPage County Illinois; and a Hydrologic & Hydraulic Engineer for Hey & Associates in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Brown received a B.S. from the University of Illinois and a M.S from Oklahoma State University in agricultural engineering and pursued graduate work in biosystems and agricultural engineering and water resources at the University of Minnesota. He is the past chair of the Illinois Association for Floodplain and Stormwater Management. From 2004-2008 he co-chaired the Mapping and Engineering Standards Committee for the Association of State Floodplain Managers and since 2008 he has chair ASFPM’s Stormwater Committee. He previously served on a National Research Council for the National Academy of Science committee studying FEMA Flood Maps and is currently serving a 4 year appointment the Department of Interior’s Advisory Committee on Water Information.
