President's Message - May 2014

I bet you are wondering why this month’s Presidents Message is not from Kristin.  This month, Dallas ASCE is celebrating Younger Member Month.  To recognize the Younger Members, the responsibilities of coordinating the monthly lunch meeting will be delegated to members who are 35 years of age and under.  From registration through the end of the meeting, the younger members are stepping up and carrying out all the activities of the meeting.  This is a great opportunity for younger members to gain a better appreciation of ASCE and let them learn about all of the leadership positions available. 

The weekend of May 16th and 17th will be a busy one for the younger members of Dallas ASCE.  We will be having a happy hour on Friday, and then a volunteer acctivity on Saturday.  See the younger member article for more information and stay tuned to the website and facebook for more details.  We are proud to be able to recognize three great recipients of the G. B. Mann Scholarships at this month’s meeting.  Please join us in congratulating them on their achievements.

At this month’s luncheon, we are excited to hear from Art Pengelly with Hayward Baker Inc. on the Innovative Retaining Wall Design.  More information on this month’s technical seminars can be found in this month’s newsletter.
