Dallas, Texas Section Director
In the first week of October, many fellow engineers converged in the desert of El Paso at the historic Camino Real Hotel for the recent Texas Section Fall Meeting.  The El Paso meeting focused on the “Sustainability in the Desert Southwest” and featured the Fort Bliss expansion and local water treatment and desalination plant tours.

One of the purposes of the bi-annual ASCE Texas Section Meetings includes Board of Directors meetings for discussion among the leaders regarding Section’s financials, programs, outreach, branch reports and issues, award recognition and assistance to the membership.  Most importantly, the Board of Directors meetings allow branches large and small to share ideas and provide stronger programs and support for the Texas Section members through the local Branch.

As your current Texas Section Director, I will be the Dallas Branch’s voice in reporting our achievements and appeals to the state level.   Walter Skipwith performed this task for the Dallas Branch for the last two years and attended the latest Fall Meeting in El Paso.  His report indicates the following highlights and updates from the 2009-2010 Board Meeting.
