ASCE 2011 Golf Tournament Wrap-Up
By Matt Gautreaux, 2011 Golf Tournament Organizer The 2011 ASCE Golf Tournament hosted at The Tribute Golf Club in The Colony on April 1st was a great success thanks to our sponsors, volunteers, and over 80 players. It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day out at The Tribute where players enjoyed a fun round of golf and a dinner during the awards ceremony. First place went to the City of Arlington team of Keith Melton, Caroll Lily, Bill Batemon, and Jeff Williams with a winning score of 49. Second place went to the American Cast Iron Pipe team of Bink Green, Tom Kleppe, Scott McMackin, and Joe Castrovono. Third place went to the Fugro team of King Cook, Chris Schmitt, Cesar Vallenilla, and Sean Merrell. The last place team with a grand score of 74 was the Management Recruiters of LBJ Park team of Jeff Hawkins, Ray Vlasek, Joe Walker, and Joy Johnson. Many raffle prizes were won with the top prize going to our own ASCE President, Jeff Hawkins. Special thanks goes to our hole sponsors: HNTB, Fugro, Reed Engineering Group, Professional Service Industries, Lina T. Ramey & Associates, American Ductile Iron Pipe, and Nathan D Meier. Also thanks to our gift and donation sponsors: ABC Imaging, Dorothy Gautreaux Photography, Sherlock's, PGA Superstore, Genghis Grill, Golfsmith, Top Golf, and The First Tee of Dallas. Thanks to our volunteers who helped make the tournament successful: Shri Yamijala, Doug Smith, Kayla Lorentz, Douglas Chastain, Craig Koudelka, Amy Brammer, Sara Schnaubelt, and Miles Bullion. The tournament brought in over $4,000 towards the Dallas ASCE scholarship fund to be awarded to lucky high school seniors who will be studying Civil Engineering in college. There was also a used golf club drive to benefit The First Tee of Dallas and we were happy to turn in over 20 golf clubs for the youth of The First Tee to enjoy. For more event photos, click here.
