ASCE Texas Section Report

1.    National ASCE President-Elect Andy Herrmann will be Program Speaker and swearing in our Dallas Branch officers at our October Luncheon Meeting
 
2.    The Texas Section Fall Meeting in Amarillo “Roping the Wind & Water in the Wide, Wide West” was Sep. 28 – Oct. 1.  CPD topics are on solar & wind energy, green construction, alternative sewer and well field systems.  There are CE presentations from your peers and interesting Tours at the Alternative Energy Institute and an Operating Wind Farm.
 
3.    Results of the Texas Section Officers Elections will be announced at the Amarillo meeting and subsequently announced at the Dallas Branch meeting on October 10.

4.    The Section has hired a writer to compile the history of the First 100 years of the Texas Section. The History writer is making progress and will be in the Dallas area in the month of September.  If any Dallas branch members have interesting stories to share, please contact Gayle Williams via Elizabeth Greenwood in the Texas Section office. 
 
5.    The Sub-Teams submitted their first draft for the TX Section’s 5-year Strategic Plan at the beginning of September.
 a.    Our core priorities:
  • PRIORITY #1 – COMMUNICATION
  • PRIORITY #2 – TEXAS SECTION INFRASTRUCTURE
  • PRIORITY #3- COMMUNITY INVOVLEMENT
  • PRIORITY #4 – STUDENTS AND YOUNGER MEMBERS
  • PRIORITY #5- CONTINUING EDUCATION
  • PRIORITY #6- ANNUAL CONFERENCES

b.    Texas Section Strategic Plan is progressing.  Committee reports will be presented at the Amarillo Meeting.
