ASCE Volunteers at Dallas Museum of Nature and Science

On Sunday, June 17, several volunteers from the ASCE Dallas Branch helped demonstrate our profession at the Dallas Museum of Nature and Science. Our volunteers helped kids (and some adults!) build paper bridges. The kids were given one sheet of paper, and two abutments placed 8” apart, and could fold, form, or shape the paper anyway they want to build their bridge. The kids then piled pennies on the bridges to see how much the bridge could hold, then make modifications if necessary. The winning bridge had over 200 pennies loaded!
