This article marks the last newsletter of my 2025-
2026 Presidency for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Dallas Branch.  Being able to serve in this role has been one of the great joys of my life.  Now am I going to sit here and tell you it was an incredibly easy 12 months and not too busy?  No, but if you love what you do it doesn’t feel like work at all!

The successes, and there are many, of this outstanding branch is only made possible by the great volunteers that dedicate their time throughout each month.  This is our Esteemed Officers, our Committee Chairs, our Technical Institute Leaders, and our Younger Members.  One great sign that we’re doing something right is how so many want to continue service into the 2026-2027 fiscal year – and how many new folks we are attracting to grow and provide great benefits to our engineering community.  I am so optimistic for the future of the Dallas Branch… and I am transitioning to Past President so I am not going anywhere!

As we welcome October, the changing season offers an opportunity to reflect on the vital role civil engineers play in preparing our communities for the future. Cooler temperatures and shorter days remind us that infrastructure must be designed to perform safely and reliably through changing conditions and unexpected challenges. October is also a time when organizations across the country emphasize disaster preparedness and community resilience, reinforcing the importance of thoughtful planning, robust design, and proactive asset management. The month coincides with National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, highlighting the growing need to protect the digital systems that increasingly support our transportation networks, water facilities, and other critical infrastructure.

Per below please note in October we are not meeting the traditional second-Monday of the month; nor will there be a morning AM Technical Session:

The new officers will be officially installed during our traditional Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet brought to you by our Meeting Sponsor Zurn; where we celebrate multiple folks with special recognition in various categories!  This year we will be coming together on Friday October 9, 2026 from 11:30am to 1:15pm at the Vouv (regular venue) to celebrate and learn from a fantastic Fireside Chat style keynote lunch worth 1 PDH credit.  We will be joined on stage with Kensey Russell, PE of HNTB, the ASCE Society Director from Region 6; Devarati “Dev” Rastogi, PE, City of Dallas Assistant City Manager; and Surya Bhandari, PE with AECOM, our ASCE Dallas President-Elect as moderator.

Spots are filling up, please register here: ASCE Dallas Branch - Meeting/Event Information

On Monday November 9, 2026 we meet per usual that second-Monday of the month for another tradition – our all-morning series of technical sessions (two concurrent) starting at 8am that continues and leads to our 12pm Keynote lunch.  With The Rios Group as the Meeting Sponsor, our Keynote Speaker is Maj. Gen. David Hill, PMP, USE (Ret.)Executive Director of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) and will be presenting on: “Engineering the Team Capability Behind Collaborative Project Delivery”.

Just one meeting or event with us and you will be hooked on our mission; just one look at the leadership set-up for 2026-2027 and you will agree – ASCE Dallas is Engineering Our Future.  We welcome you to learn more by keeping informed per our Newsletter, our Website, and of course our Social Media.

Thank you!
