September 2026 President's Message

September marks a season of transition and renewed momentum. As we move from summer into fall, officially beginning later this month, we are reminded that progress is built through thoughtful planning, preparation, and collaboration, principles that define the civil engineering profession. September also marks the start of National Hispanic Heritage Month on September 15th, providing an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the diverse contributions of Hispanic engineers, leaders, students, and professionals whose work continues to strengthen our communities and advance our industry. As we enter this busy and exciting season, I encourage each of you to stay engaged with ASCE Dallas Branch through our upcoming programs, networking opportunities, and service initiatives as we work together to shape the future of North Texas infrastructure.
September also includes Labor Day for which we hope everyone took the time to honor and respect the dedication, skill, and contributions of the workers, tradespeople, contractors, and professionals whose efforts build, operate, and maintain the infrastructure that serves our communities every day.
As many of you know the success of ASCE Dallas is on the shoulders of volunteers who give up their personal time to accomplish incredible things year after year. Our Board consists of dedicated officers, and the slate of recommended people as well as a reminder of those who roll into their next position is below. We thank everyone for their service to the branch:

The new officers will be officially installed during our traditional Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet; where we celebrate multiple folks with special recognition in various categories! This year we will be coming together on Friday October 9, 2026 from 11:30am to 1:15pm at the Vouv (regular venue) to celebrate and learn from a fantastic Fireside Chat style keynote lunch worth 1 PDH credit. We will be joined on stage with Kensey Russell, PE of HNTB, the ASCE Society Director from Region 6; Devarati “Dev” Rastogi, PE, City of Dallas Assistant City Manager; and Surya Bhandari, PE with AECOM, our ASCE Dallas President-Elect as moderator. Please Save-The-Date!
Of course join us for our Monday September 14, 2026 Monthly Meeting as seats are filling up fast. Join us for an engaging and technically rich Branch Meeting sponsored by Freese and Nichols. The Technical Session will be hosted by Cindy Castro, PE and Joel Fowler, PE with Huitt-Zollars; followed by our Keynote Session featuring Tammy Huddleston with Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with fellow professionals, gain practical insights, and stay at the forefront of civil engineering innovation.
Also, I encourage you to join the ASCE Dallas UESI Chapter on September 17 for “Adapting to Rapid Regional Growth: NTMWD’s Transformation in Capital Project Delivery”. Speakers from the North Texas Municipal Water District will discuss water infrastructure and capital project delivery in our growing region. The event will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at LTRA Dallas in Farmers Branch.
