Leadership Development Weekend 2025 Join ASCE Texas Section Leaders this July 25-27 in Lubbock, TX for Leadership Development Weekend (LDW) as we empower Texas Section members to become leaders within ASCE and in the civil engineering profession. This is a two-day, invitation-only, workshop. Each summer’s agenda is planned by the ASCE Texas Section President-Elect. Why You Should Attend In addition to unique leadership sessions, attendees will get an in-depth look at how ASCE and the Texas Section operate. We hope you come away from this event with the tools you need to be a Leader within ASCE and your profession. Those of you who enjoy networking and catching up with your fellow Texas Section members at these events will not be disappointed. There will be a group social event on Saturday evening as well as ample down-time to socialize with your fellow attendees throughout the weekend. Who Should Attend 3. 2025 Texas Section Awards Each year, the ASCE Texas Section members celebrate outstanding individuals and projects within the Section and throughout our civil engineering community. These deserving individuals are nominated by their peers in recognition of their service and achievements. This is your opportunity to nominate a colleague or friend whom you believe is deserving of special recognition by ASCE Texas Section. The awards listed below recognize engineers who provide exemplary service to the Texas Section, their local ASCE Branch, and the general public through their professional work and volunteer efforts. Most awards are presented annually during the Texas Civil Engineering Conference (CECON) VIEW AWARD DETAILS AND SUBMIT A NOMINATION 4. Webinar Series: 2025 Texas Infrastructure Report Card Why do Civil Engineers say Texas Infrastructure Grade Remains a ‘C’ in the 2025 Report Card? The Texas Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) released the 2025 Texas Infrastructure Report Card, assigning 16 categories of infrastructure a cumulative grade of ‘C‘, which is one notch ahead of the national average of ‘C-’ from the 2021 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure. This is the same grade Texas received in its last report in 2021, citing significant population growth, surging energy demands, and increasingly severe weather events putting strain on an aging infrastructure network. However, these stressors have been balanced out by record investments at the federal level and proactive state and local measures. Join the Committee Chairs as they answer your questions and provide insight into the planning, developing, results, and recommendations contained within the 2025 Texas Infrastructure Report Card. Dates: May 13, May 27, June 10, June 24 5. Younger Members Committee Events in Houston May 29 - Lunch and Learn on Resiliency and Sustainability Join the ASCE Texas Section Younger Members Committee on May 29 for a Lunch and Learn Technical Session on “Resiliency and Sustainability” by Palisha Sthapit. This session will identify the key factors that impact the resiliency and durability of storm drainage systems. Free Lunch and PDH certificate provided for attendees. Thank you to Rinker Materials and Consor Engineers for their generous support of this event. When: 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM CT June 12 - Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern Tour & Happy Hour Join the ASCE Texas Section Younger Members Committee and ASCE Houston Branch Younger Members Forum for a private tour of the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern followed by a BYOB networking Happy Hour. The Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern is a former drinking water reservoir built in 1926 for the City of Houston. BBP restored and repurposed the 87,500 square-foot Cistern into a magnificent public space for tours, performances, and art installations. You can find more info including park rules and parking here. When: June 12 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM CT
