President's Message - February 2025

Posted by newsletter on 02/07/2025 12:00 am  /   President's Message

Dear ASCE Dallas Branch Members and Friends,

I would like to begin by expressing our gratitude to the volunteers who represented the Dallas Branch at the Future City Competition in North Texas, where students presented their designs for “Floating Cities”.  A special thank you also goes out to our younger members who volunteered and helped pack 18,600 meals at the North Texas Food Bank.

February is a month dedicated to purification, love, and awareness.  It is also an important time to recognize the accomplishments of African Americans and the history of Black people.  And to those celebrating the Lunar New Year, “Happy New Year!”

Our upcoming meeting on February 10th, 2025, is going to be a special one!  The Construction Institute (CI) and the Environmental & Water Resources Institute (EWRI) of the Dallas Branch have organized an exciting program with three morning technical sessions each.  To make it more special, we have Kathleen Jackson, PE, Commissioner of the Public Utility Commission of Texas, as our keynote luncheon speaker, presenting “Power for Texas: Reliability for the Future.”

Finally, Engineers Week is February 16-22, 2025, a time to celebrate how engineers make a difference in our world.  The theme for 2025, “Design Your Future,” serves as both an inspiration and a recognition of the boundless possibilities in the field of engineering. I invite you to join me and others at the TSPE Engineers Week Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, February 19th at the Plano Events Center, where we will honor and celebrate the 2025 Dallas Branch Engineer of the Year and Young Engineer of the Year Award recipients. For more information and to register, visit the Dallas Chapter of TSPE’s website.

I look forward to seeing everyone on February 10th!

Warm regards,
Fadi N. Faraj, P.E.
