Topic: The Dallas District Update

Mr. Hudspeth is a 1995 graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and began his 29-year TxDOT career in the Collin County Area Office as an EIT working on numerous Mobility and Maintenance projects. He received his Professional Engineering license in 2000. In 2003. he became the Design Manager for TxDOT’s Southwest Dallas County Area Office working on numerous Mobility and Maintenance projects. In 2005, he assumed the responsibilities of managing the high profile $2.7 Billion Comprehensive Development Agreement LBJ Express Project, focused on Engineering Development and Procurement, culminating in the contract award in 2009. After the award, Mr. Hudspeth returned to the Collin County Area Office as Area Engineer, responsible for all Design, Construction, Operations and Maintenance in Collin County for the next 3 years and had over $600 Million under construction. In 2012, he returned to his role in Alternative Delivery as the Deputy Director for the DFW Strategic Projects Office. In 2015, he was named the Dallas Districts Director of Operations, responsible for executing the District’s Operations, Maintenance and Emergency Management plans, as well as responsibility for managing nearly 200 lane miles of public and privately operated Toll Express Lanes. In early 2020, Mr. Hudspeth was named the Director of Transportation Planning and Development for the Dallas District overseeing a project portfolio of over 800 projects valued at $25 Billion. In November 2022, Mr. Hudspeth was named the District’s Deputy District Engineer. Mr. Hudspeth is the proud recipient of the 2021 Dewitt C. Greer award, given by the Texas A&M University System, in recognition of Outstanding Service in Highway Engineering with TxDOT. He is married to his wife Sharla, a fellow Aggie, and together have 3 wonderful daughters.
