ASCE President

Hello ASCE Dallas Branch Members and Friends!

As many of you are aware, we just celebrated our branch's 100th anniversary! A
heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make it a memorable event. As we begin
our new fiscal year —and a new century— I could not be more excited to lead the
  branch and continue
building on its rich legacy!

Did you know also, this month marks the 172nd anniversary of ASCE? It was founded
on November 5, 1852, making it the oldest national civil engineering society in the
United States. Today, it proudly represents over 160,000 members across 177
  countries.

For those of you who do not know me, my name is Fadi Faraj, and I am a Geo-technical Engineer and a partner at TexTerra Engineering in Dallas. I earned my Civil Engineering undergraduate degree from the American University of Beirut, and graduate degree from the
University of Texas at Austin. I have been a member of ASCE since 2002, and I served as the President Elect, Vice President, and Programs Chair for the Dallas branch. I also served in the past as chair with the Houston branch on the Hospitality, Primary and Secondary Education, and Continuing Education committees. I also served as the chair for the Intra-Relations committee and the President of the Geo-Institute with the Texas Section.

Monday, November 11, 2024, is a special day!  It is Veterans Day, and it is the day of our monthly branch meeting. As has been our tradition every November, we will be meeting jointly with the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Dallas Post. Please help me
welcome our SAME colleagues. Our keynote speaker is Jerry Cotter, P.E., Program Director - Water Engineering Research Center at UTA.  He will be presenting on “Flood Risk and Resiliency in the State of Texas”.

Feel free to reach out with any ideas, questions, or feedback—I’m here to support you and the branch to the best of my ability. We are still looking for volunteers, and if you’re interested in getting involved, I’d be glad to connect. Together, we can pave the way in progressing the branch for the next 100 years.

Kind regards,
Fadi N. Faraj, P.E.
