    1. Poster Presentations at CECON 2024

    The Poster Session is part of the annual ASCE Texas Civil Engineering Conference (CECON) happening September 18-20, 2024, in Frisco, Texas. Undergraduate students, graduate students, and Younger Members are invited to showcase their technical work through visual displays and present their research & answer questions from attendees. Conference registration is required to participate in the Poster Session. Student registration is discounted through August 31. Posters should be submitted in PDF format to Mark Mann at [email protected] no later than August 30, 2024. Notification of acceptance will be sent no later than August 26, 2024.

     Session Details:

    • You may begin putting up posters at 8:00 AM on Thursday, September 19. Posters will be displayed in the main hallway or in a breakout session room of the conference center. Please look for the number marked with your name and set up on half of that stand.
    • The Poster Session Q&A time will be communicated with your acceptance notification. Presenters should stand by their poster and expect to talk with attendees as they view their poster.
    • Posters should remain on display until the conference ends on Friday at 1:45 PM.
    • Stands will be provided. Please bring push pins and brochures or flyers (sometimes abstracts or mini version of the poster) if you wish to offer takeaways for attendees. Don’t forget to put your contact information on this takeaway so attendees can contact you later with questions.
    • Please dress professionally and appropriately for a professional conference.

     

    1. 2025 Texas Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement (OCEA) Award Nominations

    The Texas OCEA Award may be given on an annual basis to a completed project, built and/or designed in Texas, that demonstrates the greatest contribution to civil engineering progress and to society. Please send all Texas OCEA nominations to [email protected] by October 31.

     Entry Format:

    All entries must be in English and should include the following in this order:

          • Completed Entry Form
          • Brief description of the project, not to exceed 250 words
          • Summary describing how the project meets judging criteria, not to exceed 1,000 words.
          • Brief description of how the project is sustainable, not to exceed 250 words.
          • Attachments such as articles from newspapers, magazines, or journals, if available. If non-English articles are presented, their translation must be provided.
          • No more than six (6) color images of the project.

     

    1. ASCE Distinguished Member Nominations

    Do you know someone who is deserving of being recognized as a Distinguished Member of the association? The Texas Section is currently soliciting ideas for nominations. Once received, all nominations will be reviewed, and the honoree will be notified if the council decides to move forward with a formal nomination to ASCE. Please email all nominations to [email protected] by October 1.

    ASCE Texas Section plans to continue recognizing all new Distinguished Members in Texas during the CECON Gala in September of each year.
