Hello ASCE Dallas Branch Members:

Summer’s heat is upon us! And we have lots of exciting things happening within our Branch right now. July is always an exciting time because with it comes our annual Joint Meeting with the Fort Worth Branch.

Branch Meeting News! On Friday, July 19th, at Arlington Hilton Hotel, the 2024 Dallas and Fort Worth Branch meeting, sponsored by ADS, will feature:

  • full morning of educational, technical sessions from top leaders within our industry and region
  • a keynote presentation featuring Martin Rodin of TxDOT PEPS during a plated lunch,
  •   An ethics session, and concurrent
  •   Younger Member Bridge Session.

 Additionally, the Fort Worth Branch will be hosting a Happy Hour afterwards and the Younger Members of the Dallas Branch invite you to join them at Globe Life Field to watch the Texas Rangers take on the Baltimore Orioles at 7:00 PM. You do not want to miss this event; we anticipate having over 300 attendees join us. Visit our website right now to register, sponsor or exhibit. Registration closes on Friday, July 12th.

 Please note that to participate in the Younger Members event at Globe Life Field, you must register separately and that the number of tickets is limited and will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. Also, I want to extend my sincerest appreciation to everyone working to pull this fantastic event together, especially to Mr. Patrick Williams, ASCE Dallas Branch Vice President, for leading these efforts.

 Additional News! Mark your calendars now. On Wednesday, July 24th, we’ll be hosting a watch party for ASCE’s Cities of the Future film, which is narrated by John Krasinski. Imagine stepping 50 years into the future and finding smart cities designed to be totally sustainable. Invite your friends and family, and those aspiring students looking to make an impact on their world as civil engineers.  Centennial Celebration News! We will continue to celebrate our Centennial. This month, ASCE Texas Section President Kimberly Cornett, P.E., C.F.M. will highlight the long-standing relationship between the Dallas and Fort Worth Branch and share some interesting, historical information about civil engineering projects, and how civil engineers delivered those projects, during the sixth decade of our Branch’s existence (1974-1983.)

 Save the Date! Make plans now and mark your calendar to attend our Centennial Celebration and 2024 Awards Ceremony scheduled for Friday, October 18th, 2024, at the Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco, Texas. This will be a special event celebrating our 100 years of existence and honoring our 2024 Engineer of the Year and Young Engineer of the Year, Ms. Julie Jones, P.E. and Ms. Amanda Koif, P.E. We’re excited to have ASCE President Marsia Geldert-Murphey, P.E., F.ASCE join us and help us install our 2024-2025 Branch officers.
