Future Cities Recap

ASCE Dallas members volunteered at Tarrant County College on Saturday, January 27 to participate as judges in the North Texas Future City and Future City Jr Competitions. As judges, our members were able to see firsthand the innovation and creativity on display in the scale models of future cities, created by 4^th-8^th grade students, and designed to meet this the year's unique theme and challenge to "Electrify Your Future." Everything from solar power, to geothermal energy sources, to energy created by nuclear fission (not to be confused with fusion!), was included to generate power for the proposed cities. It was inspiring to speak to the future engineers behind these designs and be a part of encouraging their involvement in engineering and STEM.
