Jack Furlong, .P.E & Bob Patton, P.E.

Topic: History about the Dallas Branch

John N. (Jack) Furlong, P.E., D.WRE was born in St. Louis, MO and a Texan since 1958. Jack has been active in ASCE at all levels, since receiving a BSCE from UT Austin in 1974 and a MSCE from UT Arlington in 1977. He also has completed
graduate courses at the University of Houston in 1980. 

Professionally, Jack started as a draftsman for Forrest & Cotton, Inc. will attending
UT Austin. He worked at F&C from 1972-78, and spent four years in the Dallas office completing many water resource assignments on major dams and reservoirs, master drainage studies and flood insurance studies. Jack obtained his registration
as a Professional Engineer in 1979. He worked briefly with Brown & Root, Inc. from 1978 to 1981. In 1982 he joined a firm in Austin, and later started his own firm Furlong Engineering, Inc. in 1984 in the Austin area. He was a partner with
Edward Witkowski, Jr., P.E. for seven years (1984-1991) completing many site development projects, drainage related projects, major water and wastewater projects for municipal clients. During this period, Jack had a joint venture firm
with Dr. Thomas E. Gebhard, Phd., P.E., for five years. Working together the Joint Venture firm, completed major water and wastewater projects for the City of Austin and other clients. In 1991 Jack joined HDR Engineering, Inc. and relocated
to Dallas in 1993. Jack joined Halff Associates, Inc. in 1996 and was associated with them for over 14 years, leading the construction management group for five years. He worked on several large water resource projects including flood studies,
levees, dams, master drainage studies, major highways, tollways, and municipal projects. Jack worked with CH2M-Hill, Inc. from 2010-until July 2015 as a lead construction manager for a major tollway project in North Texas. Jack has been
with Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc. since July, 2015 as Water Practice Lead for North Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas
