ASCE Texas Section Updates

  1.  Call for Volunteers & Officer Nominations
Do you know someone who would inspire greatness in our Texas Section membership? Are you interested in taking on a leadership role in the coming years? Nominations for 2024-25 Texas Section Officers are now open and will be coordinated through each Branch. The Section is currently accepting nominations for the following positions:

  *   President Elect
  *   Vice President for Technical Affairs Elect
  *   Vice President for Educational Affairs Elect
  *   Vice President for Professional Affairs Elect
  *   Treasurer
  *   First Year Director at Large (two positions, must be under 35 years old)

If you are interested in one of the positions listed above or know someone who would be a good fit, please contact your Branch President or Section Director for assistance in submitting a nomination.
Want to get more involved with the Section, but don't quite have the time for a year-round leadership role? Volunteer your valuable time within a Section committee or institute for 2024. We love fresh, new ideas and could always use a hand in planning, executing, and celebrating all our programs. Build your leadership skills while giving back to your profession. Join our team as we advance our profession and our communities through the development of civil engineers like you.

  1.  Texas OCEA Award Nominations

The Texas Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement (Texas OCEA) Award may be given on annual basis to a completed project that demonstrates the greatest contribution to civil engineering progress and society. It must have been designed and/or built in Texas. Please send all Texas OCEA nominations to [email protected][email protected]> by October 31.



Entry Format

All entries must be in English and should include the following in this order:

  *   Completed entry form (attached)
  *   Brief description of the project, not to exceed 250 words
  *   At least six color photographs of the project. (More images are encouraged. Include photo credits, if necessary, as ASCE may use photos for publicity purposes.
  *   Summary describing how project meets judging criteria, not to exceed 1,000 words.
  *   Attachments such as articles from newspapers, magazines, or journals, if available. If non-English articles are presented, their translation must be provided.


  1.  ASCE Distinguished Member Nominations due October 1

Distinguished Membership is the highest honor ASCE can bestow. It is reserved for civil engineers who are either ASCE Members or Fellows. One class of recipients is formally inducted annually. Self-nominations are not permitted. Complete nomination packages must be submitted electronically by a Society member in good standing.
