President's Message - July 2023

Happy July to our ASCE Dallas Branch Members!

This month is our annual Joint Meeting with the ASCE Fort Worth Branch on Friday, July 14^th. For the second straight year, we will be meeting at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel.  The Fort Worth Branch is in charge of the meeting and they have put together a great line up of speakers, including an ethics presentation and institute technical sessions.  The Younger Member group have organized an event after meeting to attend a Texas Rangers Baseball game.  It should be a lot of fun and all are encouraged to attend.  With the new stadium, it should be comfortable also. 

The Dallas Branch Officer and Committee Chair nominations are also currently open! If you are interested in joining the leadership team with ASCE Dallas, please check out the nomination form linked HERE. (please help me enable the link to nomination form).   We are always looking for fresh perspectives and new ideas to make our Branch better than ever!

Also, don’t forget to register for our Dallas Branch Golf Tournament on Friday, September 8^th at the Texas Rangers Golf Club benefitting our G.B. Mann Scholarship Fund. The Dallas Branch is celebrating its 100^th Anniversary in 2024!!!   I am excited to help kick off the celebration a little early with the October 2023 meeting and hope you will plan to join us.  If you are interested in serving on the Centennial Committee for the Dallas Branch, please contact Ed Penton ([email protected]) .

Finally, thank you to all our members who attended our June meeting and learned more about “The Loop Dallas” .  We are planning to have a speaker present in August about the NTMWD John Bunker Sands project.  It is a fascinating story about the use of water in North Texas.
