President's Message - June 2023

Hi ASCE Dallas Branch Members,

Thank you to our Younger members for leading and organizing our meeting for Younger Member Month in May. I appreciate our ASCE Dallas Branch Director Chad Ostrander, our Younger Member Chair Nalah Williams, and the rest of the YM Committee for the great job organizing the main meeting presentation and hosting the Younger Member event that included  Painting at the Park on May 31^st. The Younger Members will be presenting the Bridge program after our lunch on June 12^th. Please look for the details!  Speaking of June 12^th, Philip Haigh will present details of “The Loop Dallas” a total of 50 miles of walk and bike trails connecting Dallas to Dallas.  We are very fortunate to have Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS) as our sponsor for the June meeting.

Next month is our annual Joint Meeting with the ASCE Fort Worth Branch on Friday, July 14^th.  The Fort Worth Branch is in charge of the meeting this year and Colton Fisher and his committee have a great line up of speakers, including an ethics presentation and institute technical sessions.   There will be an opportunity to go to the Rangers game as a group together afterwards so please be on the lookout for details. 

The Dallas Branch Officer and Committee Chair nominations are also currently open! If you are interested in joining the leadership team with ASCE Dallas, please check out the nomination form linked HERE. We are always looking for fresh perspectives and new ideas to make our Branch better than ever!

Please review the ballot and consider voting in the Texas Section elections for Texas Section officers.  There are outstanding  candidates for office on the slate and two are former Dallas Branch Presidents.  

Also,  please mark your calendar for the ASCE Dallas / Fort Worth Joint Golf Tournament hosted by the Dallas Branch on Friday, September 8^th at the Texas Rangers Golf Club benefitting our G.B. Mann Scholarship Fund. You can register for the tournament HERE. A special thanks goes out to our Golf Tournament Title Sponsor: Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS)!   

Finally, thank you to our members who continue to purchase raffle tickets at our monthly meetings to support the G.B. Mann Scholarship Fund.  We look forward to presenting the Dallas Branch ASCE scholarship recipients at the August meeting.
