President's Message - May 2023

Dear Members, Sponsors and Colleagues,

I am excited and honored to be leading this month’s annual Younger Member Month. 

I'm proud of our Branch’s successes over the last months, we had record numbers at last month’s Technical session institute seminar session. And our younger member’s team led by Nalah Williams has been planning some awesome YM events. Later this month they will be hosting a Painting with a Twist night! So keep an eye out for information on that event.

Our JB Mann Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held September 8^th at the Texas Rangers Golf Club. We held our tournament at this course 2 years ago and it is absolutely beautiful. I am excited for everyone to attend this year and have another successful tournament.

Currently the national ASCE elections are in progress. I encourage all our national members to visit: https://www.asce.org/about-asce/elections to find out about the two candidates and learn how to vote.

This month we have some exciting presentations in our AM and PM technical sessions. Nicholas Konen and Robert Folzenlogen from Alliance Texas Mobility Innovation Zone will be speaking on their long term strategic planning initiatives and Rusty Wolff from Criado will be speaking on the Subsurface Utility Engineering Process.

Our main speaker for the meeting will be Tom Bamonte from NCTCOG speaking on Transportation Digital Infrastructure. For those who have not heard Tom speak you are in for a treat, his presentations are very engaging and he is a great speaker. Have your phones ready as he will have a few audience participation segments.

Finally, I'd like to give some special shout-outs of appreciation to our Branch President, Nancy Cline and to a few of our a few committee chairs and board members, Carlos Balderrama, Fadi Faraj, Surya Bhandari, Amanda Koif, and Brandon Tanksley for their tireless work on behalf of the ASCE.
