Hi ASCE Dallas Branch Members!

I hope that this message finds you looking forward to the possibility of springtime weather on its way and enjoying the beautiful, longer days we have (scattered with some rainy, more yucky weather days).

Thank you to Julie Jones and the other Girl Scout Cookie box construction volunteers!  The creations can be viewed at the Galleria.  Please read Julie’s article with more details.

Our March meeting has some great technical topics and we appreciate Travis Campbell who recently became leader of TP&D section at Dallas District TxDOT for being our luncheon speaker on March 13th

Our oldest son and his wife had twin boys in February which has been super wonderful!  Maybe one will become a civil engineer.  😊   Being recently reminded of the challenge of balancing time with children makes me extra thankful for our volunteers with very young children (that I am aware of) like Brandon Tanksley, Chad Ostrander and Jonathan Brower.   But overall thankful for all of our volunteers that make the Dallas Branch strong!

Dallas Branch President-elect Reece Taylor, ASCE Region 6 Director Sean Merrell, Region 6 Governor Tiffany Reed-Villareal and Texas Section President-Elect Kimberly Cornett and I all attended the ASCE Multi-Region Leadership in Denver and accepted the Dallas Branch awards for Best ASCE Branch (Medium size) and Best Website.

Please note that the Dallas Branch is helping prepare nominations for the 2023 Texas Section Awards to be presented in the fall at the ASCE Texas Section Awards Banquet during the 2023 CECON.

This month is also when we are looking for the applications for the G.B. Mann Scholarship.  If you know of any high school seniors interested in civil engineering, please let them know about the ASCE scholarship opportunity.  The ASCE Dallas scholarships are awarded on an equal opportunity basis to current high school senior students in the Dallas Branch region (Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman, Navarro, and Rockwall Counties) and who will be pursuing a degree in civil engineering in the fall of 2023.

Please SAVE THE DATE for the Dallas Branch / Fort Worth Branch joint golf course we are hosting on September 8, 2023.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I am here to serve you as your Dallas Branch President and I greatly appreciate all that our members do to make our branch strong and help meet the needs of our members.
