Howdy ASCE Dallas Branch Members!

It has been a busy summer for ASCE Dallas as we worked through the process of returning to in-person Branch luncheons. For those of you that attended our August Branch Luncheon in-person, I hope you enjoyed the opportunity to network and fellowship with your ASCE family again face-to-face. For those of you that attended the meeting virtually, we hoped you found our hybrid meeting approach to be a beneficial alternative to attending in-person.

Moving forward, the ASCE Dallas Branch will continue to host in-person Branch Luncheons at the Vouv Meeeting & Event Space, while also still providing a virtual attendance option for all our members to earn a PDH. The Dallas Branch Board of Directors feels this is the best course of action to maintain a balance between providing a forum for the strong, personal interactions we all crave while also protecting the health and welfare of our members that need to remain away from large gatherings at this time. Advances in video conferencing have made providing a hybrid meeting option possible more than ever, and I am proud of our Branch leadership for using their creativity and determination to produce a general Branch meeting that can benefit ALL of our membership.

We are looking forward to hearing Jenna Covington, PE and Cesar Baptista from the North Texas Municipal Water District give an update on Bois d’Arc Lake on September 13th at Vouv! I invite you to also consider attending our special October Awards Banquet Meeting on the evening of Monday, October 11th! We are moving our typical Branch meeting in October from lunch to the evening for a celebratory banquet that will include honoring Bob Patton, PE as the first ever recipient of the Anthony Luce Award of Honor, recognizing Tim Abrams, PE and Chad Ostrander, PE as the 2021 ASCE Dallas Engineer of the Year and Young Engineer of the Year award winners, recognizing the 2020 and 2021 classes of Life Members from the Dallas Branch, and  the installation of the 2021-2022 ASCE Dallas Board of Directors.

Also, don’t forget to register for our Dallas Branch Golf Tournament on Monday, October 4th at the Texas Rangers Golf Club benefitting our G.B. Mann Scholarship Fund. You can register for the tournament HERE. A special thanks goes out to our Golf Tournament Title Sponsor: Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS)!

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I am here to serve you as your Dallas Branch President, and my virtual “door” is always open.
