Presidents Message

Dear Dallas Branch Members:

I hope you each had a great Thanksgiving.  I enjoyed lots of family time and the simple reminder that we all have so much to be thankful for.  Thank you to all the members who came to the November meeting, and to the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Dallas Post for joining us again this year. 

The Engineer of the Year and Young Engineer of the Year nomination forms are out.  They are due back by December 13.  Nominate someone that you think is a great Civil Engineer.  Your new Officers and Committee chairs have been working hard to prepare for another great year.  Keep a lookout for new sponsorship opportunities. There are also lots of opportunities to volunteer with DISD for the Bridge Building Competition and other outreach events.  Look for opportunities in the newsletter or on social media.

Please join me at the December meeting, at the Vouv on Monday December 9^th.  At this meeting Matt Robinson, PE, Practice Leader of the Land Development Group at BGE Inc. will present on DFW Home Building Overview and Recent Legislative Effects. 

This month there will not be any technical sessions before or after our luncheon.  However, be sure to stick around for our annual holiday dessert reception immediately following the main presentation.  We will have dessert, coffee, and water set up in the entry area of Vouv to allow for additional networking opportunities with your fellow engineers.  

We will still be collecting donations for 2019 Christmas is for Caring benefiting the Denton State School at the reception (and before the meeting). Thank you to everyone who has donated this season and over the years.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting. On behalf of our Dallas Branch board and committee chairs, I wish you a happy Holiday season and blessings throughout the coming year!
