Dear Dallas Branch Membership:

I am thankful to our younger membership for a great job on Younger Member month.  This is a great opportunity to lead and organize Dallas Branch of ASCE.  It prepared me for my role now, and gave me a better understanding of what all goes on behind the scenes when I was Branch Director.   The Civil Engineering Club at Woodrow Wilson had a packed day with a site visits to DFW Airport facilities in the morning, then our monthly meeting, followed by an office visit to AECOM.  It was great to recognize the new lifetime members, other lifetime members, and past presidents of the Dallas Branch last month.  We are grateful for all they have done to make the Branch what it is today.

This month we have Mark Bouma, P.E., Senior Corridor Manager with The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) for our main presentation.  We have the Environmental & Water Resources Institute (EWRI) in the AM technical session.  Milton Brooks, PE, CFM from the City of Dallas will be speaking on the Mills Creek, Peaks Branch, State Thomas Drainage Relief Tunnel.  We also have Matthew Craig, PE speaking on behalf of North Texas Professional Chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB) in the PM technical session.  He is the Project Manager for the Culli Culli Alto water system project in Bolivia. All of these will be presenting on great projects!

We will have the joint meeting with Fort Worth next month in July in place of our regular meeting.  This will be a change from the normal.  It will be held on Friday, July 19th at UT-Arlington Campus. The Fort Worth Branch is putting together a great program with morning technical sessions followed by the luncheon with a keynote speaker and an ethics session to follow. More info to come soon!
