AFTERNOON SESSION @ 1:10PM Topic: Construction Engineering and Inspections: A Refresher Course Speakers: ATHAR SAEED, PhD, PE Dr. Athar Saeed, PE, a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin Transportation Engineering Program, has over 24 years of progressive experience in all aspects of Transportation Engineering including institution-level strategic management, public-private partnerships and simultaneous execution of multiple large-scale projects with significant public interaction. Dr. Saeed gained this experience while working for large public entities and multi-national consulting companies in the United States and abroad. During his career, Dr. Saeed served as Transportation Group Lead, Principal Engineer and Pavements Subject Matter Expert representing organizations, procuring and managing infrastructure design, construction and management, and rehabilitation and capacity expansion projects globally. Dr. Saeed has practiced in all facets of Transportation Engineering (highway and airfield pavements), public and private infrastructure development projects including technical and field leads and high-level communications with government entities and public interactions. His areas of expertise include all aspects of highway and airfield pavement materials, rigid and flexible pavement systems including structural and mix design of PCC and HMA, construction and performance monitoring, pavement inventory and performance data collection and interpretation, life cycle cost analyses, non-destructive and full-scale accelerated pavement testing and asset management systems. Dr. Saeed has also taught undergraduate and graduate level courses at academic institutions and actively participates in technical conferences to stay abreast with the latest in Transportation Engineering technology and has over 40 publications. Dr. Saeed is an Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) trained professional.
