Passing of Robert Yielding - ASCE Dallas Branch President 80-81

Born April 29, 1925 in Corsicana, to James Grover Yielding and Ara Ester Yielding. After graduating from Corsicana High School in 1942, Robert joined the Navy training as a Navy pilot. He graduated from SMU, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineer degree in 1949. In 1974 Texas A&M presented the Dewitt C. Greer Award to Bob Yielding. He served as President of the Dallas Branch of ASCE from 1980-81. Working for the Texas Highway Department 1947-1987, he was appointed District Engineer for the seven-county Dallas District in 1980. In 1984 he was awarded ASCE Outstanding Achievement Award in the field of Civil Engineering. 

Robert was a member of the Lakeside Baptist Church, enjoyed golf and bridge. His great sense of humor gave comfort and joy to many friends and family. He will be missed by all. Preceded in death by mother, father, & two sisters. Survivors include wife, Yvonne, his daughter, son-in-law, & granddaughter Karen, Bill & Katherine Livingston, twin sister Ruby & John Thompson, & many loving brother & sister-in-laws, nieces & nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions to the Salvation Army or SPCA.
