Dear Dallas Branch Members:

Happy New Year!

It’s hard to believe that we have made another trip around the sun and we have reached 2019.  I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday break and enjoyed celebrating the coming of the new year. 

Beginning January 8th, the Texas Legislature will begin their 86th legislative session.  Regardless of your personal political viewpoint, there will be discussions during this session that impact both our professional and personal lives.  ASCE Texas Section along with representative from across the state will travel to Austin on February 26 to discuss those items on the schedule that are most important to our profession.  If you have not, please become an advocate for the profession by joining the ASCE Key Contact program.  More information can be found at

We only have one more month until the Dallas Brach hosts the Multi-Regional Leadership Conference on February 7-9, 2019.  Please visit our website at for more information.  We are looking for sponsors and for firms that are interested in hosting a booth a career fair with the opportunity to interact with some student leaders from their respective student sections.  Please contact Farwa Sultan at for information on sponsorship and career fair booths. 

This month, our meeting will be on Monday, January 14th.  Will be learning about “Updates on the Dallas Bond Program and New City of Dallas Design Manuals” by our presenter Chris Turner-Noteware, the Assistant Director for the Department of Public Works Dallas.   Our AM Technical Session is being conducted by the Construction Institute and is entitled “Innovative Instrumentation for Construction Control” and will be presented by Paul Thurlow.  The afternoon Technical Session will be conducted by T&DI with a title of “Lessons Learned from VDOT Accelerated Bridge Construction Project” with Jorge M. Suarez, PE as the presenter.
